Greetings and gratitude.
Hi!
Thanks for being here.
For the 1909 DIGITAL team, there’s a heckuva lot to be grateful for. And not an ounce of it is lost on us. Right now, we’re 40-ish days into our stay-at-home orders due to COVID-19. Jarred, Brandon, and I are watching as small businesses collapse every day and many of our friends lose their jobs. On top of this are the general worries about the health and safety for our families. It’s officially sunk in that the pandemic will cause a new normal and there is definitely not going to be a “going back to normal.” Acknowledging that context, and compartmentalizing it, let’s get back to the gratitude.
We launched 1909 DIGITAL in November 2019 with many high hopes and even more unknowns. What we did know was that our personalities were very different in the best ways, and our three brains were absolutely epic when combined. Now we’re a lot better at putting those hazy thoughts into words people will understand and we’ve even built a brand around it. First and foremost, we’re immensely grateful to have found each other. We tell one another this often. It’s lucky to have a team of co-owners who communicate in this way, I know. (I‘ll have to make sure we keep it up!)
We often find ourselves so grateful for our roster of clients. In the midst of COVID-19 rocking our very way of life, we have not lost any of our clients. We’ve been so proud to be a part of their efforts as they’ve made 180-degree shifts in their strategies to support their communities’ needs. We’ve had the chance to take in-person student classes virtually in a number of days, help share up-to-the-minute medical advice from doctors, and connect the world to an ever-growing list of digital cultural resources. Beyond these campaigns, we’re grateful for the amazing people we get to work with. True to our team culture, our clients are down-to-earth, smart, and fun. They work alongside us as we augment their projects, and it makes us love coming to the “office” everyday.
Our gratitude extends to the multiple additional contracts currently in the works, which shows the continued and increased value of digital marketing in this brave new world. Incredibly, this has allowed us to bring on new team members and support our talented friends who have lost their jobs due to layoffs. It’s exhilarating to grow and to see our vision for our workplace culture truly come to life.
While Jarred, Brandon, and I consider one another a second family, we’re endlessly grateful for our actual families. They have been the #1 supporters and cheerleaders of 1909 DIGITAL from day one. They take on extra kid duty, extra “business owner stress” meltdowns (is that just me?), and a few too many family moments interrupted by a co-owner text, call, or slack message. And they get it. This is our “other baby.” They have worked hard at their 9-to-5s and locked down that family insurance so we can get this thing off the ground, and it’s theirs too.
So, life is crazy right now, right?!?
The world we were comfortable with is fading away and daily worries are more plentiful than vision board goals. But there are things to be grateful for, if you take a second and look around.
If how we work sounds interesting, we’d love to hear from you! Drop us a line here.
